Trust and confidentiality
At the heart of coaching is transparency about who we are and how we will work together. This is established early on and is renewed and reinforced as the coaching progresses. It is important that you feel at ease with me, that you feel you can ask questions, be honest about yourself and your situation, and come to an agreement with me how we will collaborate.
The underlying principle throughout our collaboration is that we tap into the wealth of resources that you have available to yourself and that you have not yet fully utilised. As your coach I support you to make these resources available to you.
Two brains and two hearts
I will not tell you what you should work on, what you should do and how you should do it. However this will emerge from our conversations. Many of my clients are not clear about what they want to achieve at the beginning of their coaching. As your coach, I am a “tool” (an intelligent one!), who is here to help you.
I have no other agenda but to help you achieve what you want to achieve. To this end, I bring my skills and techniques, along with my brain, my experience, and my heart. I listen to you, help you to clarify your thoughts, define your plans and your actions, review your progress and celebrate your success.
A coaching programme entails clear steps
• Initial conversation to establish whether we would like to work together • Agreement on number, frequency and location of coaching sessions
• Often some form of assessment • Identification of coaching objectives • Conversation with your line manager to gather input on your objectives (optional)
• Discussion of specific points and progress • Laps of time between sessions: reflection, implementation of actions, specific exercises • Programme over 4 to 8 months
End of project
• Review of your successes, your learning and the way to maintain momentum • Some form of assessment (optional)
